How long can I charter a yacht for?
You can charter a yacht for as long as you’d like, depending on availability. Most charters are booked for a week or more, but shorter charters or even daily bookings can be arranged. Some yachts also offer long-term charters for extended voyages, such as exploring multiple destinations or circumnavigating the globe.
Do I need to charter a yacht for a full week?
No, a full week is not mandatory. While it’s common to book for a week, we offer flexibility. You can book for shorter periods or even longer, depending on the yacht’s availability and your preferences.
Can I choose the day my charter begins?
Yes, you can select the start day of your charter, subject to the yacht’s availability. Our team will work with you to find a date that suits your schedule.
How are charter rates calculated?
Charter rates are typically quoted per week. If your charter spans more than a week, the rate is prorated by dividing the weekly rate by seven and multiplying by the number of days. For charters less than a week, it is often calculated by dividing the weekly rate by six. Rates may also vary based on whether it’s high season or low season.
What’s included in the charter rate?
The charter fee covers the yacht, crew services, and the use of all onboard equipment. It does not include VAT, fuel, food and drinks, harbour fees, and other additional expenses like marina fees, which will be covered by an Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA).
What is an Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA)?
APA is a prepayment, typically 25-40% of the charter fee, used to cover running expenses during your trip, such as fuel, food, drinks, and mooring fees. The captain manages this fund and provides a detailed account at the end of your trip. Any unused funds will be refunded to you.
How much should I tip the crew?
Tipping is optional but appreciated. It’s customary to tip 10-20% of the charter fee, depending on the level of service. The tip is generally given to the captain, who distributes it equally among the crew.
How many people can stay on the yacht?
The number of guests allowed onboard depends on the yacht’s size and design. Most yachts accommodate up to 12 guests overnight due to maritime regulations, but some yachts are licensed to accommodate larger groups. We will help you find a yacht that meets your requirements.
What if I’m unsure which yacht to choose?
We understand that every yacht has its own personality. Our experienced charter consultants will work closely with you to help you select the perfect yacht tailored to your needs and preferences. They will provide personalised recommendations based on their firsthand experience of the world’s finest yachts.
How do I book my charter?
Simply browse our collection of yachts or speak with one of our experienced charter consultants to help you select the right yacht and plan your trip. Once you’ve made your choice, we’ll send you a contract to finalise the booking.
How do I secure a yacht for my charter?
After confirming your desired yacht’s availability, you will receive a Charter Agreement. To secure your booking, a 50% deposit of the charter fee is required upon signing the agreement. The remaining balance, including the APA and any applicable VAT, is due one month before the start of your charter.
What’s the cancellation policy?
Cancellation policies vary depending on the charter agreement. Generally, if you cancel after paying the deposit but before the final payment, the owner may retain the deposit. If you cancel after paying the full amount, the owner may retain the entire fee. However, the APA will be refunded. We recommend discussing potential cancellations with your charter consultant, who may be able to help arrange an alternative date.
What is Know Your Client (KYC)?
KYC is a due diligence process required to verify a client’s identity. This is a regulatory standard for financial institutions and helps ensure secure transactions. Documentation such as proof of identity and proof of address will be requested before entering a contract.
Can I plan my own itinerary?
Yes, your itinerary can be customised to your preferences. Let your charter consultant know your desired destinations, and we’ll work with you and the yacht’s captain to create a personalised plan that maximizes your time on the water. Weather, marina availability, and yacht speed will all factor into your final itinerary.
Can I use the yacht’s amenities?
Yes, you can enjoy all the yacht’s amenities, including water sports equipment, lounges, dining areas, and more, depending on the yacht’s facilities.
What about water sports and diving equipment?
You can use most water sports equipment, though some countries require licenses to operate motorized toys like jet skis or wave runners. If the yacht offers scuba diving, you’ll need a certified diving license (PADI or equivalent). If you don’t have a license, we can arrange for an instructor to come aboard during your charter.
How can I ensure my preferences are met onboard?
Before your charter begins, we’ll provide a detailed preference sheet for you to fill out. This will include information on dietary preferences, allergies, special occasions, favourite activities, and any other specific requests to ensure your experience is tailor-made to your desires.
Can I book additional activities such as tours or restaurant reservations?
Absolutely! Our team can arrange sightseeing tours, restaurant bookings, and more. Let us know your interests, and we’ll handle the details.
Can I smoke onboard?
Smoking policies vary from yacht to yacht, but most do not allow smoking inside the cabins for safety reasons. We recommend checking with your charter consultant about specific rules for the yacht you select.
Should I purchase Charter Liability Insurance?
It’s always wise to be prepared. Charter Liability Insurance covers you for accidental damage to the yacht or third parties. While you may be covered under the yacht’s insurance policy, extra coverage ensures total peace of mind. We can connect you with our insurance partners to set up a policy tailored to your needs.
Should I purchase Trip Cancellation Insurance?
Trip Cancellation Insurance protects your investment if you need to cancel unexpectedly. You can receive reimbursement for your pre-paid fees, ensuring you’re covered in case of unforeseen changes. Speak with us to set up the right policy for your charter.
What are the benefits of a superyacht charter?
A superyacht charter offers privacy, luxury, and flexibility unlike any resort or cruise. With a dedicated crew to cater to your every need, you’ll enjoy a fully customised experience with no rigid schedules. Whether you seek relaxation, adventure, or a mix of both, a superyacht offers the ultimate sanctuary at sea.
